For sale is a used Abel Super 8 Fly Reel w/ Spare Spool

Available since 1999 in a size for every fish that swims, the Abel Super Series has proven itself time after time as the premier American-made reel. While there have been various improvements and adjustments over the years, there are things that have never changed. Specifically, a super-smooth, infinitely adjustable cork drag system married to a strong aluminum frame & large arbor spool for increased line retrieval speed.

The proven drag system is what makes the Super Series equally at home on the trout stream, the salt flats, and demanding deep blue water: It can be set light enough to protect the finest tippet, but can also be cranked to slow down the toughest Bluefin. No matter what species you prefer to chase, a Super Series reel is there to help you land it!

As seen in the photos there are 2 spool "types" here. One is a standard arbor and one is a large arbor.  The standard arbor spool will take a substantial amount of backing, the large arbor will take about half of that but certainly enough for an 8 or 9 wt rod. The standard arbor spool is in great shape with very little signs of wear. I will note the rod handle feels slightly bent but still turns. This would be an easy fix through Abel. The Large Arbor spool has seen the bulk of the use and has a few dings here and there along the spool rim. The Frame is in similar shape with some rash and dings from use.  Several of these dings are through the anodization but do not affect the performance of the reel. Internals look great on the reel. Cork drag is in great shape. This reel is absolutely serviceable through Abel and has years and years of use left in it! Reel is set for RH wind but can be switched to LH by user. Reel and spool each have original Abel case. Thank you !
